Nikyta Palmisani

IMG_5386Nikyta has been teaching yoga for the last fourteen years to widely diverse populations of people ranging from everyday folks to homeless teens to celebrities to the elderly. She has certifications in Indra Devi Hatha Yoga, Astanga Yoga, Iyengar Restorative Yoga with Roger Cole, Street Yoga, and Anusara Immersions.  She has taught in a variety of settings from yoga studios, destination spas, on the street, on airplanes, to out in nature. She has also taught yoga, meditation, Labyrinth facilitation and a variety of other offerings for ten years at the Golden Door Spa in San Diego. What this training translates to is a very diverse background so that Nikyta serves the needs of a wide spectrum of people. She has also lived in yogic community at the Mount Madonna Retreat Center where the scope of yoga is much wider than simply the physical poses. It is her belief that yoga should help you to be a kinder, more self aware and in tuned person, as well as strong and flexible in mind, body and spirit.
Nikyta’s teaching style is characterized by metaphoric themes that change with each class, but help anchor the practice in image and give added layers of meaning and poetry. Her students often comment on my soothing voice and vocal guidance, as well as my ability to hold many diverse levels of yoga practitioners in the same class.

Nikola Chopra

Nikola first discovered yoga over twenty-five years ago in Cleveland, Ohio.  At the time, she had flat feet, a history of ankle sprains, chronic hip and shoulder pain and tight, short muscles all over. Yoga not only increased her strength and flexibility and relieved her pain, it also improved her mental clarity and emotional resilience.

As a result of her own experience, Nikola is committed to making yoga approachable, nurturing and safe. She is passionate about supporting students in exploring their boundaries and getting curious about their habitual movement patterns.

With precise yet playful instruction, she guides both seasoned and beginner yogis through breathing exercises, vigorous movement and deep, meditative poses. Alignment, core stability and breathing form the foundation of her teaching style. In addition to yoga, Nikola is certified in Pilates, Ayurveda and Jin Shin Jyutsu and these systems inform her teaching.

She worked with a team at the Krishnamurti Foundation in Ojai California which edited and proofread “The Collected Works” and continues the study the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and other sacred texts.  As an avid surfer and former dressage rider, the path of yoga has been a natural progression. Jan has been practicing Iyengar yoga for 14 years and teaching since 2005. She completed the three year B.K.S. Iyengar Teacher Training Program in 2009. The program was led by Senior Iyengar teacher, Manouso Manos.
